Hello list members,
I think someone mentioned about their interest in attending shakuhachi
performances in Vancouver. Every year I and another shakuhachi player
usually play the Powell Street Japanese Cultural Festival every August. But
I think this year there will be no shakuhachi since I will still be in Japan
and Bonchiku-san will be out of town at that time. But I will be returning
to Vancouver in October and will be giving a honkyoku recital in December at
the Japanese Language School on Alexander Street. I'll give you more details
when the time gets closer. Also worth mentioning is next year will be Takeo
Yamashiro's 30th anniversary of being in Vancouver and being a community
leader, so he will give a concert at the East Vancouver Cultural Center
sometime next November.
