I've been listening (and rendering to mpg3, so I can play on my nomad player
on my trike)
to John Kaizan Neptune's CD "Word's Can't Go There"...
I appreciate the recording quality of this CD, very clean, very "true",
wonderful acoustics... evidently this was recorded at his dome in
Kamogawa...
I never cease to be amazed at the distinctive playing styles of the major
artists... Neptune always sounds very "breathy" to my ears, with an almost
percussive sound at some times... he is really dynamic... extremely
enjoyable... any comments appreciated, please educate this beginner...
I was also wondering: this particular CD was recorded in the autumn and
sounds quite autumnal to me... I was wondering if there are seasonal themes
to Shakuhachi music... I know seasons play key roles in other zen arts like
haiku and ikebana of course, are there seasonal repertoires for the
shakuhachi? A beginner's question I know, but please humor me... ;*)
thanks...
