Hi all

A warning about oils that produce a film, such as linseed oil. Dont use
them for the inside of hocchiku flutes. The film dries, then as it
shrinks it detaches itself from the bamboo just enough to respond
kinetically to the air vibrations thus stealing all the sound. Yes, your
flute becomes totally mute. The same does not happen (obviously) when you
paint the outside because as you have no doubt guessed, upon shrinking
the film hugs the outside even tighter. But it should be borne in mind
that linseed oil is was and ever shall be a paint medium.
