Tom,
I was talking of making a Seisun for my own use as I always play alone. I can
understand the logic for most of having a flute that will play with others
but it seems from the market only the best and most expensive flutes are
finely tuned for serious study.
My own personal taste is from a more Zen-like perspective. I enjoy the
variations of natural bore, un-pasted flutes in the lower keys. I enjoy the
study of tradition but play for simple enjoyment only.
I have been working on a pasted bore flute lately and have really come to
respect the amount of work that entails. It is interesting to me to se how
small changes in bore size and interior finish can greatly affect the sound
quality and playability of each flute.
Best,
Tony
