For me it is like that 'Apple jacks" cereal commercial on TV where the
parents wonder why teens like the taste of it even though it does not taste
like apples. Their response, "we just do". That is kind of like the Spiritual
side of the Shakuhachi for me. I don't read notation but playing simply makes
me feel better. Playing on a flute I made myself does so even more regardless
of the sound. After a stressful day, I go to the local park in the evening
and simply explore where the sounds take me. great fun, really.
