Well, to be 57 again :>) I'm a Zen student studying with both a Zen master
and a Shakuhachi master (Nyogetsu Sensei). It has been much easier to check
my ego at the door when entering face to face teaching with my Zen teachers
than it has been to leave my ego outside the room when taking a Shakuhachi
lesson. It seems for me that more of my core self is challenged by the flute
then anything else. So this has become my edge my Koan of everyday life as my
teacher puts it.
