Are you overblowing the notes to a higher octave maybe? I know with many low
pitched flutes I overblow and get the high whistle sound until I learn to
regulate my breath to that particular flute.
I find a mild, deep breath from within my abdomen seems to work best to give
enough volume of air without unneeded pressure.
