Oops, I hit send by mistake. I hate to think what typos I've sent
into the world...
Practice day:
Ro as a warm up: 15 mins.. Easy, familiar repertoire for review
and continued warm up: 15 mins. Meri notes, concentrating on
intonation and technique: 30 mins. New repertoire: 60 mins.
Take a break/ have tea. Practice reading: 20 mins. Listening
to CD: 20 mins. Practice muraiki: 20 mins. New repertoire on
a different size flute: 30 mins.
The structure helps to keep me moving forward and the variety
helps to prevent burnout. I might do the same thing every day
for a couple of weeks and then change the regimen.
It helps me greatly to keep a practice journal- a simple log of
what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and whether or not I think I'm
making any progress. I often include little tips to myself e.g.,
"relax lips for meri notes" and the like.
I guess I'm lucky... I love to practice.
Mark
