How about a different approach, the prophylactic approach. Don't remove the
urushi oil, contain it. Apply a couple good coats of a hard substantial
furniture wax. That way you don't have to wash your shak each time you play.

Howard's is a wax I like, I get it at the paint store. Or a good beeswax
coating would probably suffice.
