I had terrible reactions to urushi. The last was so bad that I was
off work for a week, running around my closed up house naked so that
nothing rubbed against the rash which ran from my knees to my
eyeballs. Not an exaggeration.

A friend suggested that I contact a homeopath (sp?). She, the
homeopath, suggested a course of Rustox (don't remember the full
name) which I tried with great success. I've since been in contact
with fresh, wet urushi (fixing a flute with the red, which seems
to be more dangerous than the black) and only experienced small
breakouts on my hands.

If you're susceptible to the stuff, it might be worth your while
to contact a local homeopath. Sure did me right.
