Actually, it depends on your lineage and the spelling of the phonetics
(rendering the Tibetan/Sanskrit to English phonetics is almost impossible,
I've seen it in about 15 different variants), the mantra I gave you is a cut
and paste from the website of one of the teachers
http://www.dharma-haven.org/tibetan/medicine-buddha.htm#Mantra... also there
is a Sanskrit recitation and a Tibetan recitation... one of my teachers
(Trungpa Rimpoche) insisted that it was better for Westerners to
mispronounce the original Sanskrit than mispronounce the Tibetan
mispronunciation of the original Sanskrit... ;*) And add to this that there
about 6 different Sanskrit variants... well you get the idea... see the
websites for an exploration of the variations, I think using the original
Sanskrit is best, but I tend to be a purist and there is a lot of "good
karma" built into the Tibetan variations. Just realize that the intent is
what is important and that when you chant you are chanting with all the
chanters who have chanted any variation of the mantra past, present, and
future and receiving the energy/energies of all that chanting...
My teacher that I got initiated with was a Nyingmapa ("Ancient School")
Nakpa (long haired Yogi/Shaman) and Dzogchen Master...
you should have heard his pronunciation/variation!!!
There's a story about the main mantra of the lineage, the Guru Rimpoche
mantra of Padmasambhava, the Sanskrit is "Om Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum"...
when it was carried to Tibet it somehow became "Om Benza Guru Pema Siddhi
Hung" and was pronounced that way for centuries... now we hear both variants
in the West... there's about as many ways to recite these mantras as there
are to play Kyorei... ;*)... Trungpa Rimpoche who was trained both by
Nyingmapa and Kagyu ("KaNing") just told his students to go back to the
Sanskrit original... I tend to follow whatever the teacher I'm with is
doing, do the original Sanskrit prayers when I'm on my own... any variation
will work...
Good luck... get well, heal!

See, Brett! You've got your mantra spelled all wrong, and you're gonna'
give me a bunch of bad karma, for cryin' out loud!
It's supposed to be , "Tayata Om Bekanje Bekanje Maha Bekanje Randze Samu
Gate Ye Swaha".
Hee hee. . . .
