Hi all,

I just spent a day with AOKI REIBO (II) last week and we did discuss the Yu
plastic flute. He mentioned that he thought it was good for what it was ,
albeit too harsh and bright for HONKYOKU.

But there is no way that he would stack it up against a traditionally made
root-end Shakuhachi.

Plastic flutes and Monty's beginner flutes (my personal favorite) are fine
for:

1- Beginners who aren't sure if they will continue
2-Folks who want a better traditional flute, but have serious financial
constraints
3-Those who want a spare "knock-around" flute for camping and such

See you all in NYC in July!,
Ronnie
