Ive read lots of Buddhist and Taoist books/poetry. I
remember reading a book of short stories about a
prince who gave up his royal life and sought after
enlightenment. Well into the book there was a story
that I really liked. Buddha is sitting under a tree
and he is watching a group of people. One person has
a bamboo flute (Don't know if it's end or side blown),
But everyone was talking and taking turns playing this
flute. Well, the people saw the buddha sitting under
his tree and watching them, and so they came up to him
and started a friendly conversation. Buddha started
talking to them about buddhist practice and
enlightenment and then eventually someone handed the
flute to the buddha and asked him if he could play it.
Buddha took 7 slow deep breaths and then began to
play. The music was soft and slow and seemed to twist
about and hold everyones attention. When buddha
finished everyone said wow, your really good and where
did you learn to play like that??? Buddha replied
that he used to play when he was a child but never
could play that well before and he also had not played
in many years. The group of people all renounced
their lives and devoted themselves to the practice of
buddhism.

Well, I enjoyed reading this story so I thought I
would share.
