Brian;
Thanks so much for the review! Your explanation was superb. My own
shakuhachi journey seems to be unfolding along the natural jinaishi/hocciku lines. I
own several of Perry's flutes, and they started me on the "natural" path.
Those I have made from a 1.4 to a 3.2, with several sizes in between, seem to
play with a subtlety not matched by the jiari flutes. The quiet approach
requires MUCH concentration and attention to detail, especially in the upper ranges,
but can be truly transporting.
Thanks again for the review. Adds fuel to my fire!
