Yes , the various Zen schools have doctrinal and practice differences no doubt. And some people
are more outspoken about it that than others.
I am going to explore the relationship between Zen ideas and my practice of Shakuhachi over time.
I am a beginner.
In my understanding Shakyamuni Buddha taught for people to test things for themselves and
understand self. (and he was Teacher). Bodhiharma the 28th Patriarch of Buddhism who brought
Dhyana/Chan to China would have said the same thing I imagine.
I am learning alot about self through learning Shakuhachi. I am quite amazed actually.
I practice Advaitayana Buddhism and the same principle applies as part of practice.
