I've gotten more than a couple of messages that voice a concern
that I will be dictatorial and only allow those messages I like to
pass through my hands and onto the list. Rest assured that I'm not
really interested in throttling the subject content of the list.
My real urge to refuse messages comes up when I get messages that
are either entirely HTML or, possibly worse, both plain text and
HTML.
I have had many requests to get people to alter this behavior, and
to stop sending such bulky messages to the list. I have made at
least two requests on the list to ask folks to stop sending these
kinds of messages to the list.
Now, as long as I'm taking the time to moderate things, I'm going to
be returning such messages to the sender and asking that they submit
the message without all the additional baggage.
If you want to read the full rant I wrote, but didn't send, it's at:

How's that, Herb? (inside joke).
