The second Hawaii Chikuho-ryu newsletter is out with the second
installment covering the festival. Some nice pics are included - email
me and I can send you the .pdf versions if you would like to see some of
the enjoyment Riley describes that was shared by all!
Aloha,
David

Greetings everyone.=20
Recently, someone recently asked for a synopsis of the shakuhachi
festival held in Honolulu in March 2005. This prompted me to finish the
following, which I started in late March. Thank you for the impetus!=20
It gives those of you who didn't attend (most of you!) an idea of what
you missed. It doesn't however, really describe all of the less
quantifiable aspects, the quality of performances in both concerts, the
bento lunches in the Bamboo Courtyard, the impromptu min'yo singing by
one of the Japanese participants, the sounds of shakuhachi wherever one
turned, etc., etc., in other words, much enjoyment shared by all. Not
to mention the great weather. David Wheeler even helped Kaoru and
Megumi Kakizakai's son, Haruka, successfully stand up on a surf board
and ride his first wave off Waikiki!=20
Photos of the Festival were taken; they've not been uploaded for
viewing yet...=20
As one of the organisers, obviously I am pleased that HSF05 was a
success. It went so well that the date for the next Hawaii Shakuhachi
Festival has already been set. It will again be held at the University
of Hawai'i Music Department, for three days 10-12 November 2006. If you
start saving now.....
