So true - muscle memory permits us to do all those things that our theories
cannot categorize or throw nets around . . . things like note transitions,
yuri, furi, etc. Of course, those memories must be developed and nurtured
through dedicated practice and emulation of great players, and I guess that
leads us back to the "ear-gate." Ear & perceptual system to -->brain's
short-term audio memory to -->motor-system & muscle memory and performance
emulation to -->(your own music performance) to --> yours and others
symbolic representations (and inevitable vague correlations) to -->
language/image/metaphoric systems to --> building of general theories and
--> more talk talk talk . . .
