This work is a meditation on themes inspired by the Ocean
focusing on the movement techniques of Body Mind Centering,
View Points, Butoh and music of the Shakuhachi Flute
*Jennifer Hicks* has been teaching dance and martial arts both
nationally and internationally for over 20 years. She has studied for
Butoh for the past 15 years. Jennifer is a certified as a Shintaido
Instructor (martial art) with Shintaido of America. She is also a
certified Trance Dance Facilitator from Wilbert Alix and a Yoga
Instructor registered with the National Yoga Alliance. Originally Boston
based, she is currently living in Boulder Colorado and working on an MFA
in Contemporary Performance at Naropa University. www.movingnature.com
*Phil Nyokai James* has been composing and performing his music for over
thirty years. He has worked extensively with choreographers and is a
master of the traditional Japanese shakuhachi flute. In reviewing
Nyokai's solo CD "First Places," composer Stuart Dempster noted that it
"provides the listener with spiritual nourishment bordering on the
sacred." Nyokai lives in Portland Maine and teaches privately in Boston
