Hello shakuhachi folks,
We in BC are poised on the verge of our second Shakuhachi Roots
Pilgrimage to Japan. On this most exciting trip we will be traveling to
Tokyo, Nagano, Fukui, Kyoto, Nara, Mie, Fukuoka, Kumamoto, and Nagoya
meeting several shakuhachi masters, makers, and priests. Harvesting
bamboo with the Zensabo in Nagano will be one of the highlights. In
addition to visiting Meian-ji again, we will also visit two other
shakuhachi temples: Koukokuji and Hakata Iccho Ken. We will also be
participating in sesshins at the two main Soto Zen monasteries in
Japan: Eihei-ji and Soji-ji (featured in the excellent German film
"Enlightenment Guaranteed".) For more information please go to:

For those who happen to be in Shibuya, Tokyo, on Dec. 11, I will be
performing again with the stellar biwa master, Kakushin Nishihara with
the performance art collective, JOBUTSU. Please come if you are in
town. It promises to be exciting and way out.
