In addition to Perry's handmade ones that Ed points out, you can also
make an utaguchi protector out of paper and a rubberband.
Take a piece of paper three times the width of the utaguchi opening
and about 4 or 5 inches long. Fold in thirds lengthwise and then in
half from top to bottom. Place one half in the bore, with the fold
over the utaguchi, and secure with a rubberband.
Not pretty, gnarly, caveman, or medieval :-) but cheap and practical.
And you probably don't even need to leave the house.
