Hello out there in the world.
I am right now writing a short article to Hougaku Journal, the largest
traditional music journal in Japan.
I have been asked to write about the coming performance of Takemitsu
Toru's November Steps, that I will do in Denmark January next year.
I would like to approach this article with the angle of changes in the
shakuhachi world - especially in regard of the amount of women players
increasing
and ji-nashi shakuhachi.
I don't know how many of you know I have created a list of shakuhachi
playing women in the world. I only have a fraction on there -
obvioulsy. But I would be grateful, if more women would send me a
short bio + why they play shakuhachi + a picture to me
(kiku@kikuday.com), so I can add you to the list. This list is by no
means a list of professional women shakuhachi players. Someone, who
has just started but is enthusiatsic enough about it would be perfect
here. It is rather visibility I am after - and connecting with each
other. And then it would be nice ot have a LONG list when the article
appears in Hougaku Journal.
I hope you will help!
Kiku
