Finally getting around to looking through Masa Yoshizawa's collection
of arcane and esoteric audio cassettes and found a couple of interesting
bits.
One is a recording Masa made of Aoki Reibo at UCLA and the Japan/American
Community Cultural Center in Little Tokyo, LA, CA. Not the best quality
(obviously recorded from the audience or, more likely back stage at
JACCC), but interesting historically anyway.
The other is entitled "Kaneyasu Dodo Sakuhin: A memorial to Kaneyasu Dodo"
Quite a collection of players on the latter:
Side A
Kogarashi (Naotomi [sic] Judo)
Momiji (Miyata Kohachiro)
Okunen (Yamaguchi Goro)
Side B
Bakka Takian (Yokoyama Katsuya)
Yoshino Kaiko (Kawase Junichiro)
Senshin (Aoki Reibo)
Kaneyasu must have been quite a guy to get these folks to memorialize him.
I'm going to send both tapes up to be added to the collection at the Int'l
Shakuhachi Society. I thought it might be useful to Ron if anyone had
more information on them, like the date? place (the Kaneyasy tape)? etc.
Does anyone know about these?
