Greetings all. I'd like to find someone to lend me a high-quality,
reasonably in-tune instrument (probably a 1.8 to start with) so that I
can make a computer model of it. The process should actively take only
take a few hours, and at the end I hope to have a model which I can use
with a 3D printer to print out an instrument which reproduces the shape
of the original's bore and other holes.
There are certainly materials issues which are possible and even likely
in production, but the first step in my mind is to make an accurate
model from an instrument of known quality. I could measure my own
shakuhachi, but I'd prefer to start with something a bit more high-end,
because I'm aiming for a high-end result.
(Sending this to both the general shakuhachi list and the SF Bay list
because local people are probably more likely to make the loan, but I
don't want to rule out other folks.)
Best,
Jeremy
