Our daily meetings in turn-around and M&A parties expose us to many
firms. Especially peculiar to Japan are intermediaries, who bring
rolodex of clients with whom they have built trust over the years.
However, we believe the industry is due for a shake up, as each
intermediary is connecting to another intermediary, who in turn talks
to his contacts and so on.

This is time consuming, not really efficient, and costly as each step
adds more costs, without any real value created. The web will change
all this and certainly weed out weaker firms.

Remaining boutiques will have to focus more and add concrete value to
their real clients.

One strategy is to keep on working on certain industries. In this
regards, we celebrate our number 101 newsletter! And we are happy to
say that we will keep on to at least 200. Let us know what you think.
