Yes, at last! The hitori mondo. Many times I've wanted to suggest to
readers of this list that they read the hitori mondo, but aside from
the ISS book I didn't know where it could be found. Great to see it's
now on the web. For those not familiar with the term mondo it means,
loosely translated, "dialogue with myself," referring to the
question-answer sessions held in Zen training. The first of many
provocative paradoxes to be found in this wonderful artifact of
shakuhachi wisdom. I find that as time goes on, the less definite I can
be about what it all means. I just keep blowing and let the bamboo keep
trying to teach me. As Laozi says, "Those who speak don't know, those
who know don't speak." I heard that often living in China and Taiwan,
and think the same goes in Japan. And Bill, I've never been bored by
your posts.
