Watazumi anecdote

Hello All,

There is the story, now being called a apocryphal, of Watazumi playing a flute made from a laundry pole. Here's a similar one.

John Daido Loori, Roshi and Abbot of the Zen Mountain Monastery in NY, tells a story during his dharma talk on the Iron Flute of a visit that Watazumi made there to conduct a Zen arts seminar. The staff was showing him around the grounds and there was some construction going on. In that area there were some lengths of PVC pipe laying around. Loori Roshi says that Watazumi picked up a piece and "...proceeded to play the hell out of it." (An apt description of W-doso's playing on a couple of levels, huh?)

Music, like enlightenment, is where you find it.

Regards,

stan
