in my other musical life away from the shakuhachi I am a drummer, mostly in
rock bands. Unsurprisingly the subject of tinitus is a commonly discussed
one amongst us percussive types, as we are definately prime candidates.
There have been a number of very high profile drummers who have been
afflicted, and as a consequnce many players now use ear-plugs.
I would add my support to the advice already given to go and see a hearing
specialist, as all that I have read suggests that early intervention is
very important. You could also do worse than checking out some of the
drumming related resources on the web, as they usually contain links and
information about tinitus.
