It is all a matter of choice.................. If one's work is teaching, by all means there should be a charge for lessons. If one chooses to give lessons without charge then so be it. I studied with Ronnie for a number of years always felt that the price for the lesson was more than fair. Especially considering his rank and experience. One couldn't get that value for the price in any other musical venue. I'm also a singer and to get a lesson from a top teacher it is not unusual to pay $100.00 + for a lesson. And even at that price you won't get the return of value that you'd get from a lesson with Ronnie.

I've taught lessons both for pay and no pay. For me it was the circumstances surrounding them. I have another job where I earn a living. And my students were young people and prepairing for scholastic performances so I was glad to donate my time in instructions. If an adult wanted to study I'd probably charge a nominal rate. But I don't depend upon teachning to make my living.

Again it comes down to choice.
