Hi Steve and other European shakuhachi players (and of course everybody=20
else, who are interested).
Steve's mail reminded me of the need for us shakuhachi players in Europe =
to=20
organise ourselves and create a network so we can get to know each other'=
s=20
locations and interests. I have recently created an European shakuhachi l=
ist=20
on internet. Those of you who are interested in creating a stronger=20
community of shakuhachi players in Europe, you can subscrike at:
Euroshak-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Tell us, who you are and where you are, and about concerts ot other event=
s=20
related to shakuhachi... or anything you want to discuss.
I am hoping we can one day host a shakuhachi festival somewhere in Europe=
.=20
But first of all, it is just important to get to know each other.
Regarding performances. I do not have anything organised in London, but I=
=20
have one in Paris, if that helps. June 17 at Instant Chavire. I will play=
=20
improvised music with hurdy-gurdy player Andras Vingh. Instant Chavire is=
a=20
great venue in Paris and Andras is a great player and improvisor, so I am=
=20
really looking forward to this gig.
Clive Bell often perform improvised music in London, and he always post i=
t=20
on the Euroshak list.
Also, there is a Japanese music society at SOAS (School of Oriental and=20
African Studies, University of London, Russel Square). They meet every=20
Monday afternoon or evening (I think) and play together. Michael Coxall, =
the=20
main shakuhachi player there is a brilliant sankyoku performer. He perfor=
ms=20
around in London as well.
Hope that helps!
Kiku

>>>About humidity:
>>>So I'll be in the UK, and I'm concerned to keep my
>>>shakuhachi in the right humidity. I thought about
>>>making a box, and having some kind of humidity
>>>measuring devise in it. Does anyone know what kind is

>>> And then I thought of maybe keeping a cup of water in
