You know, I Remember When I Used To Speak In Capitals, Too. It's addictive.
It also encourages people to poke sticks at you. Justifiably. (You know, I
just sold a story where folks Talk in Capitals. But I digress)

Boy, Werner's got this one down cold. USENET is a lot better after two or
three eggnogs. We shouldn't allow anyone on the net without a bottle of
brandy.

Is usenet anarchy? There are rules (um, guidelines! not rules! guidelines!
really!) that are followed (except when they are not) adn people who
maintain and enforce those ru-- guidelines (except when they don't, or when
people ignore them). Is that still an anarchy?

You know what my opinion is? I DON'T CARE!

We do what works. When it breaks, we do something else. USENET isn't an
anarchy, it's a floor wax. Or maybe a dessert topping.

(sp!)

If everone decides to agree and form a consensus, then we aren't on usenet
any more

The sun will go nova.

The status quo continues, except where it doesn't.

(aha: usenet is a koan. The Backbone Cabal is a buddhist monastery
charged with studying same, looking for enlightenment)

And both sides are incorrect. And both sides are relevant. And irrelevant.
It's a floor wax and a dessert topping! But I wanted chocolate cake.

If a tree falls in a forest and nobody is close enough to hear it, will we
ever resolve the sci.aquaria fiasco?

Boy is next April Fools day going to be fun.
